Paleo challenge: day 4

by Running to the Kitchen on January 4, 2013

From Jan 1 – 31 I’m doing a strict paleo (Whole30) challenge with my CrossFit box. I decided to journal the month in food on here (in addition to normal posting) after getting a huge positive response on my Facebook page. I’m also going to detail the amount of sleep I got, the workout for the day and any other relevant notes. I’ll only detail drinks when it’s something other than water or tea, but note that I typically drink 80-100 ounces of water a day. I’ll link to recipes (either mine or other people’s) when applicable, but I don’t usually cook from recipes for myself so if you leave a comment asking for the recipe for something, there is none unless otherwise noted.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Notes for the day:

Today was the first day I craved my typical afternoon dark chocolate snack. Like hard. I shoved hot tea down my throat instead.

Sleep:

9 hours

Workout:

CrossFit (modified leg wod again. My legs are wasted since that’s about all I can do right now)

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Breakfast:

1/2 grapefruit

almond/coconut flour breakfast bake (kind of like this except paleo-ized)

blueberries

almond butter

coffee with coconut cream

Lunch:

turkey burger

1/2 avocado

balsamic roasted zucchini & peppers

Dinner:

sage chicken thighs with sautéed apples & onions

raw cabbage & carrot salad with a variation of sunshine sauce

Snacks:

mixed nuts & dried fruit

i find pomegranates to taste better than chocolate – do you like those?

Thank you so much for posting your meals while doing the Whole30. Following you through the process is helping me stay on track and get additional meal ideas. I made the Pumpkin Pancakes today and plan to make the Breakfast Bake tomorrow.

Aw, I bet your legs are feeling the pain! That was like when I injured my knee all I did was core and upper body stuff. My abs have never been in so much pain. Carob, is it allowed on paleo? I can’t remember. Live the look of that cabbage salad, definitely a must try!

No, no I was thinking as a replacement for your chocolate craving! The day I mix up carob and carrot is the day I know I’m going mad!

Looks good, I think I could do this lifestyle. Lots of variations.
