The white tea shot is fresh, fruity and perfect for summer. Made with vodka, peach schnapps, sweet and sour mix and a touch of lemon-lime soda, it’s refreshing for a hot day and can even be made into a cocktail to sip and enjoy.
If you’ve ever tried the green tea shot and loved its surprisingly refreshing and delicious vibe, you’ll probably be into its cousin drink, this white tea shot.
Personally, as someone who had an experience with bourbon (a story better left unshared), I actually prefer the white tea shot recipe that uses vodka instead of whiskey or bourbon.
The white tea shot gets its name from the clear color thanks to the vodka. As you probably know, green tea shots are tinged green not because there’s actually any green tea in there, but from the whiskey mixing with the other ingredients.
With the lemon garnish, this shot has the perfect balance of sour, sweet and tangy going on. Served ice cold, it’s a summer-time favorite that I actually enjoy pouring into a martini glass and sipping rather than thrown back like a shot. My shot days are long gone.
What You Need To Make The White Tea Shot
- Vodka — Choose a plain high-quality vodka of your choice or, opt for a citrus flavored vodka for even more flavor.
- Peach schnapps — This brings the flavor and sweetness to the drink. Neither the green tea or white tea shots are complete without it.
- Sweet and sour cocktail mix — You can use a homemade mix or buy this prepared for ease.
- Sprite or other lemon-lime soda — Just a splash of this tops the shot (or drink) off for a bit of carbonation and flavor.
How To Make The Drink
STEP 1
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes — just a couple of ice cubes are enough.
My Pro Tip
Recipe Tip
Use a mason jar with a lid or even a water bottle that seals tight if you don’t have a cocktail shaker.
STEP 2
Measure out and add the vodka, peach schnapps, and sour mix to the shaker. Shake for about 15 seconds, until the contents are combined and chilled from the ice.
STEP 3
Strain the shot mixture into shot glass, without ice. Top off the drink with a splash of lemon-lime soda.
STEP 4
Serve with a lemon or orange wedge and enjoy.
My Pro Tip
Recipe Tip
This drink is best served very cold. Freeze your shot glasses ahead of time for the best tasting option. This can be said for almost any shot recipe, but especially this one and the Scooby Snack shot recipe.
Variations
For a gluten free alternative, be sure to use a gluten free vodka and check the labels of your mixes. For gluten free vodkas, here are some of my favorites:
- Tito’s Handmade Vodka
- Ciroc Vodka
- Grey Goose
- Smirnoff.
Remember to adjust the ingredients according to your taste preferences, and feel free to experiment with different ratios to find your perfect white tea shot recipe.
Substitute lemonade and a splash of lime juice for the lemon-lime soda if you don’t want a fizzy drink. You can also use unsweetened lemonade for a less sweet shot.
If you want to keep calories down, you can use diet lemon-lime soda or a lemon-lime club soda.
For extra sweetness and extra peachy flavor, add a little extra peach schnapps to your drink.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you can make these shots or a large batch in advance! Just wait until you are ready to serve the drinks to add the soda because otherwise it may go flat by the time you are ready to serve it.
No need to worry! You can swap the vodka for tequila, rum, or gin. This shot will taste great with any of those.
You can use dried fruit or a fun cocktail pick with a cherry. A wedge of any citrus will also suffice or make a fun peel creation.
Nope! Just like the green tea shot, there’s not tea of any sort in this recipe despite the name.

If you like mojitos, this pineapple caipirinha is a must try. Caipirinhas use cachaca instead of rum and the fresh pineapple in this drink brings a delicious sweetness similar to the white tea shot.
