Refreshing, slightly sweet, subtly spicy and a bit tart, this cantaloupe aqua fresca with lime and jalapeno is the perfect summer drink.

Are you an 8-10 glasses of water a day type of person? I used to suck at hydration. I just couldn’t understand how anyone could force down that much water in a day. How seriously boring, right?

Then one day, I pulled out this hideous purple plastic cup from a Maui-Wowi smoothie stand I got at a jet-ski race in Florida years ago and decided it was going to be my daily drinking cup. I measured how much it held and figured out if I just drank 2-3 glassfuls a day, I’d be good. Way less overwhelming than 8-10 normal glasses and something about the hideous tiki-faced man on the side of it was endearing to me.

That cup has sat on my counter in all it’s barney purple colored glory for the better part of the last 7 or so years and ever since I can happily say I’ve changed my hydration ways.

Some days it’s simple water (and ice because my brain thinks it’s fancier when ice is involved), other days it’s something equally as hydrating but way more fun like this cantaloupe lime jalapeño agua fresca. If ever there was a time to get fancy with your water consumption, it’s summer.

Agua fresca is really just a jazzed up name for fruit water, but the possibilities it holds are endless. There are so many combinations to play around with. With all the summer fruit at your disposal right now, you could probably think of a different one every single day, but this triplet of cantaloupe, lime and jalapeño is a favorite.

It’s refreshing, slightly sweet, just a little tart and subtly spicy. And while it’s all pretty in that clear glass, know that it tasted just as good in my beloved purple plastic cup that was filled with it all day long.

Cantaloupe Lime Jalapeno Agua Fresca is a refreshing summer drink that has it all, sweet, tart and spicy!

Now let’s talk about water. All water is not created equal. As someone who has lived in places with three different wells as well as a house on city water, water taste and quality has come up plenty of times.

Whether it’s from the ground in your backyard or provided by the city/town you live in, I’m betting your water straight from the tap isn’t the best tasting. Ours sure isn’t!

Thank goodness for filters because without them, I’m pretty sure that purple cup would remain empty day in and day out.

This Cantaloupe Lime Jalapeno Agua Fresca is the perfect summer sipper.

Kangen Water filters your tap water and produces ionized alkaline and acidic waters through electrolysis. The water produced contains various minerals like calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium and is great for cooking, cleaning, beauty applications and of course, drinking like in this cantaloupe agua fresca because it’d be a sin to ruin it with bad tasting tap water.

Pineapple cucumber juice is also a refreshing addition to your day. I sometimes enjoy it diluted with seltzer for more of a mocktail type drink that’s great for added hydration!

  1. I live in a place where the water tastes HORRIBLE during the summer. No bueno! We filter our water, and it does help me drink so much more water. This agua fresca would certainly help matters too. Sounds fantastic!
