Ok, so who actually cares about the turkey tomorrow?
Are those crickets I hear?
In my opinion, turkey is so overrated. Roasted chicken? I’m in. But there’s something about the bigger bird that just does nothing for me. So on the biggest food day of the year, I’ll gladly pass up the main dish and go for all the sides piled high on my plate instead.
And in case you’re running around totally last minute needing to figure out something to bring to your T-day shindig (I’d know nothing about that), here’s a few of my favorite sides from the archives.
Happy Thanksgiving!
sweet potato goat cheese puffs
roasted broccoli & cauliflower parmesan gratin
goat cheese & spinach mashed sweet potatoes
salted rosemary roasted radishes
shaved brussels sprouts fruit salad
caramelized onion parsnip puree
spicy yogurt pan fried cauliflower
crispy baked butternut squash chips
perfectly crispy rosemary baked fries
Put on the spandex and dig in.

I’m with you, I’d rather have side dishes then the actual Turkey! I get lucky and get to bake a 16lbs. turkey for just my Husband and I. Whoopie Doo!! The worse part is my Husband only wants mashed potatoes, no side dishes just potatoes!!! How boring is that? I’ll still make side dishes so I have leftovers for the week!
Have a happy Thanksgiving!!
Oh man, those puffs are so getting made Saturday when we can hoard them to ourselves! (Plus I have no desire to see the wrinkled noses of a family who refuses to try anything new)
those sweet potato puffs always get me. i realllllly want them
I’m a side girl too – your round up has my mouth watering!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you
You have so many fabulous sides and starters – between the sweet potato puffs and crispy chips, and then everything else – love it!
Hilarious – we both wrote similar things today. I’m way more for the sides & dessert than I am for the turkey. Happy Thanksgiving!
Sweet potato…cheese puffs. Oh my god. I wish I was going to your thanksgiving.
I totally agree with all the side dishes rather than the turkey. Your side dish looks so good, esp the butter nut squash chips! YUM! have a great thanksgiving.
Whilst Thanksgiving is not a holiday we do ‘DownUnder’ I’m thankful for these side suggestions anyway…yummo!
