I hope you guys are having a great week! So far we’ve arrived in Milan, navigated our jetlagged bodies and minds through the Italian bus system and made our way to the hotel where we’re staying before our tour starts tomorrow. We got to spend yesterday with family over here which included a lot of head tilting, smiling, nodding and staring at translator apps on our phones. Not being able to express yourself verbally has to be one of the most desperate feelings ever. We’re on our way to meet with more family today so I’m expecting much of the same. Luckily, food and wine are a pretty universal language and that seems to be the majority of what we’re doing.
I hope to get some pictures up soon of the trip so far but today’s all about September’s sponsors. Enjoy getting to know them!

Miriam and Whitney are the awesome duo behind Bellaspire. They have a great collection of healthy recipes, a good dose of cute puppy pictures (even though she a rather freak out inducing thing for socks) and some great fitness inspiration. In fact, one of the first times I read about Bellaspire was when Miriam guest posted on Carrots ‘n Cake back in the spring about her bikini competition days. I found it totally fascinating to read about all the behind the scenes stuff that goes along with competitions. From the diet to the workouts to the posing. It’s funny to me that learning how to pose is actually part of the whole preparation process.
Favorite post this month? Low Carb Spaghetti Ulysses actually made this for me the other night before I left using a spaghetti squash except when I came downstairs from the shower and peeked in the oven to see how the squash looked, I saw it split in half, baking away with the seeds still in it. We had a little lesson in squash preparation before dinner. He’s good to go now for the rest of the season.

As if Jenn really needs an introduction… I bet half of you find yourself over there every Wednesday linking up your eats from the week. Jenn and I met last summer when I put two and two together that my family’s beach house was right around the corner from where she lived. We bonded over falafel and fro-yo and took pictures of our food. #typical
I’m totally jealous of Jenn’s ability to do both the food thing and the crafty/artistic/house design stuff and need to steal her to come save me from my boring hodgepodge Homegoods decorated house. Hi, we’ve lived here for 3+ years and I still have empty rooms.
Favorite post this month? Spinach and Feta Quiche Swirled with Asparagus Pesto So many of my favorite things in this recipe. Also, I adore those mini tart pans.

Kat’s done some sprucing up since last month and made me jealous (as always) of her technically savvy ways to somehow magically always keep her space new and fresh.

Hooray! Love all the sponsors you’ve had since you started this program!
I’m with you on the language barrier. I moved to America, from India, when I was 3 and I don’t go back as often I should :\ When I do, I don’t even speak the language. I do understand it completely, but I can’t respond the same way. It’s tough! But at least being with family is what counts! Enjoy your trip. I love northern Italy! So beautiful
