August sponsor shout out

by Running to the Kitchen on August 24, 2012

It’s that time of the month again to get to know the lovely sponsors that have been hanging out on the sidebar for the past month. I hope you’ve already clicked over to see each of their little spots on the internet but if not, here’s your chance to meet them.

When Carrie first emailed me about sponsoring, she described her blog as a “healthy food blog with a literary slant”. I thought that was so cool because I honestly don’t think I’ve ever come across that combination of focus on a blog. If you follow Carrie on twitter, you will literally see her talking about poetry (among other things). Poetry! I mean, have you even thought about poetry since having to memorize some stupid Shakespearean line that made absolutely no sense in high school? Somehow now, (12 years removed) it seems a lot cooler than it did back then. Then there’s the food. Lots of gluten free recipes over there if that’s your thing and even a cool recap of her experience going paleo for a week.

Favorite post this month? Hiker’s Cookies (ok, it’s actually from last month but Carrie was on vacation for a bit of this month so we’re making exceptions)

Jennifer wins the award of the most consistent and nice commenter on this blog.  Seriously, every morning before I even get to my desk there is a comment from her and she’s on west coast time! Girl, do you sleep? Her site is full of deliciously healthy recipes and fueled by one intense obsession with Trader Joe’s (yes, she has a tab dedicated to it).

Favorite post this month? Blueberry Banana Zucchini Avocado Bread (I have plans to attempt to paleo-ize this sucker over the weekend)

Aparna is one cool chick. Ok, so I don’t really know her, but her name is cool, she takes gorgeous pictures and she’s as dog obsessed as I am. Obviously, cool. You can find a bit of everything on her blog. Food, photography, travel and corgi-ness to name a few.

Favorite post this month? Para-Para-Paradise <–there are some seriously cool crowd shots in this post.

Lauren got a serious makeover this month (the blog, not her) to the point that I thought I typed in the wrong url when I first saw it. It’s a very cool design that’s so different than most blogs out there, definitely check it out!

Favorite 3 posts from the month:

Stuffed Squash Blossoms with Peach Balsamic Drizzle Seriously. I have been thinking about squash blossoms ever since seeing this and am praying they somehow materialize on my plate in Italy next month. They’re an Italian thing, right?

Northern California Road Trip A surprise road trip from your husband? I’ve been trying to figure out a nonchalant way to get Ulysses to read this post and GET A HINT. It’s been almost 6 years, I should know better… Seriously though, this post is filled with amazing photographs and perfectly captures everything I love about Lauren’s photo style.

Taco Pasta We all do taco salads, why the heck is this the first time I’m seeing taco pasta?! Genius.

Jackie just posted about a potential bathroom renovation on Tuesday and I haven’t been able to stop dreaming of white subway tiles and rustic finishings since. The one room in our house that I hate is the bathroom. The builder made it as awkward and low grade as possible in a huge space that had so much potential and now I want to rip it all out and re-do it. Thanks, Jackie.

Other favorite posts from this month?

Wedding Stuff…Again there is a video clip of Richard Simmons in all his 80s glory in this post. That is all.

What Should I Wear Saturday Night? I want to be stylish like this and actually have places to go to wear these things. Help?

Oh, you should SEE our bathroom — it. is. AWFUL! But I’m sorry that you, too, are dreaming of white subway tiles! I *still* can’t get them off my mind. Thanks for the lovely shout out :)
