Just one of them days…

by Running to the Kitchen on January 7, 2012

don’t take it personallll…. God, I miss the 90’s and being 13 at middle school socials when that song came on.

Yesterday was a day.

You know, one where it starts with you walking downstairs with no pants on because the ones you want to wear are in the laundry room and as soon as you get to the bottom of the stairs, you see the UPS man looking through the window at the front door about to ring the doorbell staring at you in your lululemon racerback tank and underwear so you jump back up on the stairs and hide behind the wall because that will make it like it never happened.

And one where it ends with you wanting to either punch someone/thing, drink a bottle of wine by yourself or, take your aggression out in a workout. I chose the last one. Don’t be fooled though, if I had a bottle of wine in the house, I probably would’ve opted for that.

So yeah, I’m glad yesterday is over.

Today is a new day. Today I’m driving down to Annapolis for one of my best friend’s baby showers.

My balls (<- except I used almond butter this time) are packed

(sorry, that really just doesn’t get old)

and I bet I’m driving somewhere on I-78, blaring country music and singing at the top of my lungs. Music and balls heal all. Winking smile

So between yesterday being craptastic and spending most of today in the car, I thought I’d do a quick recap of some of my favorite posts from around the blog-o-sphere this week. Ones that after reading probably 350 posts or so in a given week, still stick out in my head for one reason or another. Enjoy!

-Amanda’s simple rustic bread. Intimidated by baking bread? Think it’s overwhelming? Read this and simultaneously obsess over how amazing her pictures are.

-Lindsay’s chicken bacon wild rice soup. If that first picture doesn’t make you want to dive head first into that, there’s something wrong with you. (unless your veg, that might make sense then Winking smile)

-Katie’s chocolate banana cream pie because she had “one of those days” this week too and this was her solution. I like where her head is at.

-Abby’s world’s colliding video because it’s nice to once and awhile see someone post about the other half of our lives: work. It’s also nice to see someone as incredibly articulate as her speak about her job. You can just feel her passion through the video. I sometimes feel like “half” a person on this blog because you guys don’t know the professional Gina, the career driven Gina, the Gina that can speak for hours to senior level administrators on a college campus about their facilities and capital investment strategies. It was nice to see that part of someone else and know we don’t all talk about food and fitness all day, every day.

What were some of your favorite posts from the week? Feel free to link to them in the comments.

90s music is awesome. When I’m cleaning the house or cooking I tend to put on the 90s music channel on tv. Brings back alllll kinds of memories!

Have a safe drive!

I have done the UPS/lack of clothing thing and thought I was the only one :)
I have done a bottle of wine by myself too!
Love your blog because I see a normal, down to Earth person behind it. Not just a perfect eating/lean/fitness machine.

I’m so glad you liked that bread post! I honestly wasn’t sure about posting that one because the recipe comes across as being really complicated (I swear it’s not).

Loved your story about the UPS guy! haha I bet they see half-dressed people all the time. Probably no big deal. ;)

Like you, I am so happy Friday is over. It was just one of those days where everything was extra frustrating. Hope you have a great time at your friend’s baby shower!

I have TOTALLY been there with the UPS man – but I think it was some kid trying to get me to buy magazines. Oy.

Oh how embarrassing!! We used to have the Swan Frozen Food Guy come to our house and my Mom would say hide to the basement, and then we looked and he was looking through our basement windows! The nerve! For you I would of died, I hope through all that you got a good package! :)

Have a great day!
