Christmas cheer

I’ve seen this holiday survey make its way around in the past couple of weeks and thought today would be the perfect time to play along now that Christmas is literally upon us!

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?

Wrapped! I didn’t even realize non-wrapped presents were an option until reading other people’s responses on this one.

Colored lights on tree/house or white?

White lights on everything. There’s nothing that can beat the tackiness of those huge bright bulbs that people put outside. White seems so much more elegant and classic to me. Smile

Do you hang mistletoe?

What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

This is tough because we don’t really seem to have a set holiday menu. We don’t do turkey but we do do the classic Italian fish thing (not always 7 though) on Christmas Eve. I’ll be boring and say the shrimp cocktail and lump crabmeat that we always have as hors d’oeuvres. It’s good stuff!

Favorite Holiday memory as a child?

This is a toss up between Christmas Eves spent at my grandparents house and the chaos that ensued after dinner when all the grandchildren would gather around the tree and open gifts from our aunts, uncles and grandparents. Or, coming down the steps in our old house and seeing the tree for the first time Christmas morning with my parents waiting on the couch and all the presents underneath. It was like magic happened overnight.

Snow? Love it or dread it?

Ugh, snow. I like the first snowfall of the season (except when it happens in October) but then usually dread it from there on out.

Real tree or fake tree?

REAL! We always had real ones as kids and then my parents got a fake one about 6 or 7 years ago. We still give them hell about it. There’s just nothing that can compare to the smell of a real tree.

What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you?

Spending time with family. My family would go the whole religious route (and are probably ashamed of me not saying that) but that’s taken on a lesser meaning for me as I’ve grown older and holidays are really just about family to me now.

What is your favorite Holiday dessert?

Apricot brandy cake.

What is your favorite tradition?

Of course this has to do with food…Christmas morning we always opened a fresh panettone and it would honestly rival opening presents as a kid. It’s that good. You have to try one if you never have!

What tops your tree?

This year, a sparkly snowflake. We don’t really have a traditional tree topper and this is only the second year we’ve had a real tree since being married!

What is your favorite Christmas Song?

O Holy Night. Hands down. It gives me the chills when sung properly.

He does a pretty good job.

What do you leave for Santa?

Nothing. I’m 29, we have no kids. Come on.

Do you have a Christmas morning tradition?

See panettone above. Smile

xmas morning

I’m going to apologize right now to my mom for posting this morning, pre-makeup picture because I know I’m going to hear about it later. Winking smile Adrian-you’re a boy, there’s no excuse for you.

Do you prefer to shop on-line or at the mall?

Having been at the mall yesterday in complete chaos, I’ll take online shopping thank you very much.

Hope you are all spending this holiday weekend in health, happiness and with the ones you love. Smile

My mom used to make a huge batch of pancakes Christmas morning. We’d dig in after opening all the presents.

Always a REAL tree- if only it didn’t drop pine needles everywhere [they're so hard to vacuum]! When I was younger, my brother and I would leave milk and cookies, and a note for Santa :P

  10. 12

LOL Shane and I joked about leaving cookies for Santa last night. It’s only he and I besides the pets :)
