A three ingredient delicious chocolate sunflower seed butter dip that’s topped with sea salt. Perfect for a quick and easy fruit dip.

Phew! That’s a mouthful, huh?

I can’t think of a single food item I discovered through the “blog world” that let me down. Until I bought sunflower seed butter.

Salted Chocolate Sunflower Seed Butter Dip

It was toted as another amazing “butter” option. Put it on oatmeal, slather it on some bread, enjoy it smeared on a banana. People raved about this stuff! About 4 months ago, I finally remembered to pick some up when I was at Trader Joe’s. I got home, super excited to try it out and immediately opened the jar. I spread it on some cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread and proceeded to gag.

Really? People actually like this? Eww.

It just tastes “seedy” in a gross aftertaste kind of way to me.

So, the jar went into the cabinet where it sat for the next 3 months while I tried to figure out a way to finish it without cringing at each bite. Perfectly good food does not get thrown out in these parts.

Enter the lovely people at Ghirardelli who sent me some chocolates to sample as part of the Foodbuzz tastemakers program.

Light bulb!

Chocolate is good. Peanut butter + chocolate is even better. Omg, I wonder if sunflower seed butter + chocolate would work?

Um, of course it would. Anything with chocolate works.

The inspiration for the salt was actually the sea salt soiree combination from Ghirardelli. Have you tasted that chocolate bar? If not, go out immediately and buy one. Your mouth will thank you.

Salted Chocolate Sunflower Seed Butter Dip

The best part about this chocolate sunflower seed butter dip? It takes maybe 3 minutes to make. That’s even easier than chocolate covered oranges.

Instant fruit dip for your eating pleasure.

Or, anything dip really. Marshmallows taste especially good dipped in this. That’s pure speculation of course, I wouldn’t know that first hand or anything.

I know I’m in the minority as far as not digging the taste of sunflower seed butter but, I’m pretty sure all you fanatics out there won’t balk at the opportunity to combine it with some chocolate. Right?

  1. Your pics are so pretty! Who knew brown goo could look so yummy. :)

Thanks for the sunflower seed butter review – I haven’t tried it yet but might skip this craze.

  2. I’ve never tried sunflower seed butter before, but since I like sunflower seeds I would imagine it would taste good to me.
But I have no doubt that adding chocolate to it would make it even better .

  4. This looks like a great use for chocolate and SS butter– although I can’t believe you hate the ss butter so much!!! I love that stuff! ;-)

    1. I know! I couldn’t believe how much I disliked it too. I’m starting to think maybe I got a bad jar of it or something?!

  5. Um, YES PLEASE!!!!! You just combined my two favorite foods in one fell swoop – then dipped my next two favorites in it!!

  6. This sounds so good! I haven’t tried SS Butter although I too have read that it is amazing. I prefer regular old PB more than any other nut butter I’ve tried.

  7. And now I want THAT. Have you had cashew butter? That’s my new bestie. We like to be alone with ourselves sometimes.

    1. No, I desperately want to try it though! I really need a legit food processor so I can start making my own.
